OSOGBO— A community leader in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun state, Mr Adeyeye Ajayi, has been murdered by unidentified persons who allegedly stormed his residence on Friday night.
The deceased who was said to be a successful farmer and businessman was allegedly hacked to death by the assailants in his sitting room after he had retired for the day.
It was gathered that the assailants stormed his residence located at Oke Temidire area of the town at 8.00pm and left the house about 10.00pm.
It was learnt that efforts by the late Ajayi and his household to get police assistance proved abortive as the assailants shot sporadically into the air, scaring away neighbours.
The incident however, threw the community into pandemonium as youths in the town protested the killing of Ajayi who they described as a “philanthropist and lover of his people.”
A family source told Vanguard that the deceased was not involved in politics or any controversial matter that could warrant such death, describing the late community leader as “a quiet and easy going person.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Solomon who said he heard about the incident, however said his office had not been fully briefed.
He assured that the matter would be properly investigated and details of the police findings would be made known to the public in no distant time.
