Akure—AN herbalist, Oluwatosin Elebile, and three other suspects, have been arrested by the Police in Ondo state over the killing of a 25- year old hunchback, Adeoye Dowo, for alleged money making ritual.
Already aggrieved youths in Ago Alaye Village in Araromi Obu in Odigbo area of the state, have set ablaze suspects’ vehicles and houses.
Parading the suspects and five other armed robbery suspects, state Police Commissioner, Sani Mogaji, said one of the suspects, Samuel Olatunji, had allegedly confessed to the crime.
Mogaji also said one of the five armed robbery suspects paraded alongside the murder suspects had equally allegedly confessed that he shot dead an Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP last year and another Inspector this year during robbery operations.
The Commissioner said late Adeoye’s father had reported that his son was kidnapped and during investigation it was discovered that he was kidnapped by three persons including Dayo Araromi and Lekan aka Olodu.
Speaking to journalists, Olatunji said the deceased was lured into the bush by a woman before he was strangulated and slaughtered.
The suspect claimed the trio of himself, Dayo and Holo removed the hunch and kept it inside a custard plastic and hide it in the forest at Oniparaga.
He said: “We contacted a herbalist on how to make fast money and assured us that if we can bring hunch for the rituals we will surely become rich. We immediately swung into action by employing some ladies to lure Adeoye to the bush where we killed him before removing the hunch.
“We kept the hunch in a plastic and hide it in a bush. Unfortunately for us, the police traced us and I was apprehended while others ran away. Before we got to where we kept the hunch, they had taken it away and I suspected my friends took it away in order not to leave any trace.”
Given details of how the suspects were arrested, the Commissioner of Police, said detectives discovered the corpse of the victim in the forest with “the hunch neatly removed and the rest of the body covered with cloth.”
According to him, the corpse was removed and deposited at a Private Hospital Mortuary in Ore.
The Five armed robbery suspects also paraded were Sunday James, Yahana Francis, Mohammed Ismaila, Usman Abubakar and Mutari Buda and they were arrested in Akure and its environs.
The Police Commissioner claimed James had confessed he killed two Police officers last year and this year.
He said one Inspector was killed along Emure Eporo road on the January 6, this year.
