Jonathan betrayed Nigerians on subsidy, says Arigbe-Osula

By Bartholomew Madukwe
Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula has faulted the removal of the controversial fuel subsidy by the Federal Government, saying it was a clear betrayal by the President of his oath of office to secure the welfare and security of Nigerians.

Arigbe-Osula, a member of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement, lamented what he described as the insensitivity of the government and its crude approach to the implementation of the subsidy removal.

He said: “The timing is an obvious display of lack of basic understanding of the fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy as expressly stated in the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“The President through the dehumanising implementation of this policy has shown contempt for his oath of office.”
