Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Dr. Gyang Dantong has called for the strengthening of the crisis management aspect of the country’s health sector to check avoidable deaths during emergencies like bomb blasts and similar situations.
He told journalists in an interview that the challenges thrown by crisis such as last Sunday’s blasts at Madalla near Abuja and similar ones in the past have made this imperative to improve response to such emergencies.
“Nigeria has come to an age when we look at the way we respond to medical challenges. In other countries like the United States of America, we have a Surgeon General who directs the way things should go in times of crisis”, he said.
