BENIN CITY – THE Vice-Chairman of the Congress for ProgressiveChange (CPC) in Edo State, Comrade Ikonomwan Francis, has disassociated members of the party from the statement credited to the chairman of the party in the state, Comrade Godwin Erhahon, who faulted Governor Adams Oshiomhole over the latter’s comment on late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Comrade Erhahon had challenged Governor Oshiomhole to disclose the alleged deal he struck with the late President after the Governor described late President Yar’Adua as a statesman who stood on the path of truth, just as he disclosed that the late President assisted him financially and morally before and after his Governorship election in 2007.
But reacting in a statement, Erhahon’s Vice, Comrade Ikonomwan, said the comment made by the chairman was his personal opinion and not the views of members of the party in the state.
According to the statement, “if the Comrade Governor made any statement on the late President, it is left for the PDP or the Yar’Adua family to react, how does that affect CPC? He has clearly shown that he is now the spokes person for the Yar’Adua family and the PDP.
“We wish to reiterate our position to always constructively criticize the government of the day with a view of imparting positively on the development of the state and engage on issues that will lead to improving on governance.
We don’t believe that the comment of the Comrade Governor has anything to do with the CPC and that is why we disassociate ourselves from the comment” it stated.
