The Nigerian Premier League held its 6th Annual General Meeting at the Bayelsa state capital Yenagoa and resolutions were reached which have caused the fabric of the country’s league to shake.
One of these is the suspension of a seating board member, Akin Akinbobola who actually contested with the present chairman, Victor Rumso Baribote.
Speaking to Inside Out Premier League after the congress on the suspension of Akinbobola, chairman of the board, Baribote said, “I am not the one that suspended him, so I believe you should ask those that suspended him.
Commenting on his purported suspension, Akin Akinbobola said, “if they said they have suspended me, let them notify me with a written document. Until then, I remain a board member of the Nigerian Premier League.
“Also, if they send me a document to that effect, then I would know the appropriate action and channel to address it. On the part of the chairman of Gombe United, Alhaji Auwalu Umar, “I think he has committed or violated the rules of the Board which warranted his suspension.
“I was not there but I know our representatives represented us very well and would not be tied to anything that is not according to due process,” he said.
