Most commercial cycles in Ekiti were stolen – FRSC


ADO-EKITI- The Sector Commander of Federeal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Ekiti State, Mr. Francis Udoma has raised an alarm that most of the motorcycles used for commercial operations in the state were stolen, calling on the state House of Assembly to enact a law that would restrict operation of Okada in the state from 7 am to 9 pm daily

Udoma who was speaking in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, during the distribution of 500 crash helments to commercial motorcycle operators donated by the Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, disclosed that no fewer than 250 motorcycles impounded by his men had been abandoned by the Okada riders at the office of the commission in the state capital.

He further disclosed that most of the motorcycles used for commercial business by the okada riders do not usually have number plates

The FRSC boss further noted that most of the donors of motorcycles to okada riders are in the habit of not regularising the process of registration of the motorcycles before given it out to the riders, with a huge numbers of the motorcycles not having plate numbers
