The Christian community in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, has called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola to disregard any opposition to the construction of the Ejigbo-Ajao Link Bridge and ensure that the bridge is completed on time.
Residents of Ajao estate had reportedly petitioned the Governor to discontinue the construction of the link bridge because it will lead to the influx of more people into the middle-income neighbourhood. But this plea has not gone down well with residents of Ejigbo.
Speaking during a prayer session organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, for the Council’s chairman, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan and residents of the LCDA, CAN President, Rev. Peter Fabusoro said the call to stop the construction of the bridge is anti-people of the area.
The CAN chairman said that the Christian community would apart from also doing a memo to the Governor on the need to continue with the bridge, also work with the Muslim community in the LCDA, in ensuring that the project is completed. The CAN chairman described the link bridge project as part of the infrastructural development the people of Ejigbo have been yearning for
Rev. Fabusoro commended Bamigbetan for the achievements recorded by the LCDA under his leadership.
Bamigbetan who lauded the Christian community for their assistance to his administration, enjoined residents of the council to rally round his administration to ensure that the link bridge is completed. He noted that if the bridge is abandoned as demanded by Ajao estate residents, it would impact on the LCDA negatively.
Bamigbetan commended Governor Fashola for coming to the aid of the council, by approving the construction of the link bridge, adding that the bridge will reduce to a large extent the harrowing experience of motorists plying the Isolo Ejigbo Road.
