Nigerian Custom Service has detained a returning pilgrim, Magaji Muhammad and one Alhaji Suleiman, a Kano resident over the importation of army uniform in to the country.

Details of the seized luggage made available to reporters in Kano by Customs Service includes 21 Air force uniform, and two army uniform concealed in a brief case ferried into the country  from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through Trade Craft Airline.

Briefing newsmen on the development, the Area Comptroller of Custom, Kano Command, Mr. Sanusi Umar revealed that the luggage allegedly originated from one Alhaji Suleiman, a house keeper resident in Saudi Arabia . Mr. Umar stated that ‘the offensive luggage’ was handed over to Magaji Muhammad, the returning pilgrim for onward transmission to Alhaji Muhammad Auwal, an elder brother to the Saudi-based house keeper.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Alhaji Suleiman, a House Keeper based in Saudi handed over the bag containing the army uniform to Magaji Muhammad a returning pilgrim for delivery to his brother”, Umar explained.

The Custom boss further revealed that the elder brother of the Saudi based House Keeper, Alhaji Muhammad Auwal confessed after his arrest that he was alerted by his younger brother over the message sent through a friend, but denied the content of the luggage.

Umar said that “we have a serious case of threat to national security here, and we are doing our best to unravel the dirty detail behind the importation before handing over to appropriate security agency for action”.
