Lagos – A Ghanaian pharmacologist, Mr Steve Mensah, says Nigeria is still the best investment destination in spite of its security challenges.
Mensah of Kasapreko Company said this on Saturday in Lagos in an interview at the ongoing 2011 Lagos International Trade Fair.
“Despite the security concerns, which have remained a major threat to investment in Nigeria, the country is still the best investment destination for foreigners seeking to expand their market reach with more focus on Africa,” he said.
Mensah, whose company specialises in premium herbal drinks, Alomo Bitters, said that Nigeria remained the focus for any manufacturer to expand his product because of the versatile market.
The pharmacologist said that the infrastructure challenges which had hampered the growth of the nation’s manufacturing sector could still be tackled effectively.
According to him, in spite of the different challenges, a lot of success has been recorded here in Nigeria because of its market versatility.
He said: “We hope to set up a plant here in Nigeria in the long run, positively projecting that with time; the security and infrastructure issues would have been effectively addressed.
“Nigeria is a nation blessed with abundant human and natural resources and we hope to tap into it with the setting up of our plant.
“We hope that in the long run, we would create employment and also empower many Nigerians.”
He said that the issue of adulteration of the company’s product had been a major concern.
Mensah said that the company was currently working hand in hand with the NAFDAC toward ensuring a strong compliance to standard.
“We are aware that our major product Alomo Bitters has been imitated. We hope that with NAFDAC’s efforts and other regulatory agencies, we will combat this menace,” he said (NAN)
