Eagles’ striker, John Utaka is hoping to get a starting role in Saturday’s crucial group C qualification match against Guinea.
Utaka has not featured prominently in coach Samson Siasia plans of late, despite scoring his second and third goal for the Eagles against Ethiopia during a Nations Cup qualifier against in March. Utaka attributed this low performance to the limited time he was given to play by coach Siasia. Utaka has played only six games for Nigeria.
However, Utaka is brimming with confidence after lifting his club OB Odense with a brace in last weekend clash with HB Hoge in the Danish league.
“It gives you a lot of confidence to score before traveling for an international game.
“We have fantastic strikers doing well across Europe and hopefully I can play a part against Guinea and Ghana.
“The two games are very important, I just want to contribute and help the team.”
