Rivers State Government has awarded a fresh contract to dualise the road between Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST, Junction and Agip flyover, a major road in Port Harcourt metropolis.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi gave the hint during an unscheduled visit and inspection of some ongoing projects within the city of Port Harcourt, Wednesday.
He said part of the building materials market and other property would be demolished to pave way for the road expansion. He said: “You cannot finish expanding a six-lane road at Mile 3 to empty into a four-lane flyover. So we are expanding from RSUST Junction to Agip flyover.”
Amaechi, who was accompanied by his deputy, Mr. Tele Ikuru, observed that the new road would drastically reduce the gridlock along the route. He added that the nearby Olu Obasanjo Road would also be expanded to a six-lane road.
