Nigeria’s sprint star, Blessing Okagbare has been told to leave El Paso Texas for the fast lanes of Los Angeles. Sportswear giants NIKE wants Okagbare to join other elite athletes in its endorsement roaster who are to train under renown American coach John Smith.
Okagbare who is due to earn a Bachelors degree in business management in three months from the University of El Paso Texas is having a bit of headache thinking about the movement to high profile America city, which is a heaven to entertainment world acclaimed celebrities.
“The way I live my life, El Paso is just suitable for me. I don’t party as an athlete I don’t need to do things like that,” said the Olympic 2008 long jump bronze medalist.
However, Okagbare stated that she is ready to leave her small town El Paso for the big life if it would help improve her athletics career.
“If I had to leave El Paso I’ve lived for four years, it has to be for me to do better.”
Okagbare is hopeful that Smith will be able to shape into a world champion. With this she has set herself a target at the London 2012 Olympics.
“I have set a huge target at the London 2012. This is getting into the top three of the long jump and 100m.
