Enyimba football club chairman and Nigeria Football Federation board member, Felix Ayansi- Agwu is yet to get over his team’s ouster from the CAF Champions League.

Anyansi-Agwu who led the Aba giants to two Champions League triumph in 2003 and 2004 was cork sure that Enyimba will make the final, but were shocked out by Wydad Casablanca of Morocco with a 1-0 aggregate win last weekend.

Anyasi-Agwu was looking forward to the team playing at the FIFA Club World Cup in December with a view of making a global impact just like TP Mazembe last year.

“Our exit from the competition was painful. This is because we showed all character that we could be champions right from the start,” said the club chairman.

Enyimba had an impressive unbeaten run in their champions league group games till they met their waterloo in the first leg where they lost 1-0 to Wydad. The entire team was hopeful of over turning the deficit, but the Elephants were stuck in the second leg in Aba. Their slide to defeat started with the loss of the Federation Cup final game to Heartland of Owerri.

Unless Enyimba post a good result in the Nigeria Premier league, they will not be in any continental championships next year.

Under fire coach Okey Emordi disclosed that they will do all it can to win its remaining matches in the Premier League to get a respectable chances of going continental.

“We will try and pray to get continental ticket because it is very important. If not the club will die. We have five matches left; if we are able to win three, I am sure it will take us to somewhere,” he said.
