Gateway FC goalkeeper, Temitope Francis has predicted that Sunshine Stars of Akure stand a better chance of winning this year’s Nigerian Premier League than their main rival, Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt.
Speaking to Inside Out Premier League at his team’s camp in Abeokuta, he said that Sunshine Stars have performed better than previous seasons and therefore have the edge to win the NPL title.
“With the way things are, I believe Sunshine Stars have a better chance of winning the league this season. They have performed better compared to last season coupled with their participation in the CAF Confederations Cup,” he said.
On the continuous postponement of the league, the former Ebiede FC goaltender said, “It is so sad that we are experiencing such a thing when other leagues in the world have been concluded and resumed another season while we are still waiting to end ours, it is shameful, “Francis said.
The former Sunshine Stars goalkeeper expressed his desire to leave the Pro-League for any premier league side next season.
“I want to move to a good premier league side next season. For the past few seasons, I have been able to show my worth in the Pro-League so, I believe it is time to compete in the elite league,” he added.
