AKURE- POLICE in Ondo State have arrested three more suspects including a herbalist over the death of a four-month old pregnant woman, Mrs. Adesola Eleso allegedly killed for ritual by her husband.
Earlier, the husband of the deceased, Mr. Ebenezer Eleso, a automobile rewire and one of his friends were apprehended by the police after it was discovered that the fire outbreak he said killed his wife was a decoy.
Police sources said the suspect, his girlfriend and the herbalist allegedly connived to murder the pregnant woman, removed her two eyes, and foetus before setting their one room apartment on fire.
However Police investigation revealed that the suspects sprinkled petrol in the room around Similoluwa Estate in Aule, Akure, the Ondo State capital before setting it ablaze
To cover their evil deeds, the suspects and others now at large, hurriedly buried the deceased, a mother of two boys, after informing her family that she died as a result of fire outbreak which gutted their room, but police after suspecting foul play exhumed the corpse.
It was then the police discovered that the deceased was a victim of ritual killing.
Vanguard gathered that the family of the deceased had insisted that the corpse of the deceased be exhumed following the allegation that fire gutted the room as a result of electric spark.
Investigation revealed that the stomach of the deceased was ripped open and the foetus removed. It was also discovered that some vital parts of her body including her private part and breasts were missing while she had no cloth on.
According to police sources, her two eyes were filled with kola nuts while leaves were placed on her two hands. Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adeniran Aremu said all the suspects would soon appear in Court.
Aremu said the fire incident theory was a decoy because the deceased had some machete cuts all over her body when she was exhumed.
