LAGOS—Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has approved 11 days extension for the conduct of party primaries for the October 22 local government election in the state.
The approval for the extension was sequel to request by political parties for an extension.
At a stakeholders’ forum with LASIEC in Lagos, most of the political parties insisted that an extension would enable them make proper preparations for the polls.
Lagos State Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Chief Henry Ajomale, said the extension would enable them fine-tune their arrangements.
Ajomale said Ramadan and the Eid-el–fitri holidays hampered their preparations for the primaries.
Chairman of Community Party of Nigeria, CPN, Chief Akinola Obadia, said the request for extension was made by party aspirants, who felt that the time given by the commission was not adequate.
