The golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938, will comes alive on Monday as the 2011 edition of the annual Heineken sponsored Nigeria Cup tees off
The competition which is put together to mark the nation’s Independent anniversary will tee off with a special ‘catch them young’ program, tagged the Nigeria Cup children clinic.
The week long tournament will commence fully from Monday, with the Caddies taking turn on the course and latter on the course are ladies and other gentlemen golfers.
On Tuesday, it will be the turn of the professionals along side the ladies who would be returning to the course for their closing 36-holes.
A special kitty for guests, amateurs and other golfers from neighbouring club in Lagos, Oyo and Ogun will take the centre stage on Wednesday in continuation of the celebration.
The following day according to the chairman of the Organizing Committee, Victor Akinbayo, has been dedicated to the professional who are expected to return for their closing 36-holes competition. Staked in the professional category is the sum of N3m
Before the tournament hole out veteran golfers will set the course alight with their own round of golf.
The climax would be on Saturday, October 1st as expected, the Brand Manager Heineken Jacqueline van Faassen, says tthat Heineken will be the choice for all as the organiser round up the programme marking Nigeria’s 51st anniversary celebration.
Speaking at the pre-tournament briefing over the week, Miss Van Faassen expresses her joy in seeing the premium beer been associated with the nation’s anniversary celebration. While saying she looks forward to the celebration, she pledges Heineken continuous support for Nigeria Cup.
