Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji has been grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged N7bn fraud and other sundry cases.

Sources at the anti-graft agency told Vanguard that the Lagos Speaker walked into the commission’s headquarters, Wuse Abuja, 10am, Friday and was  interrogated by the agency’s officials.

Vanguard gathered that Ikuforiji  was invited by the EFCC,  after the commission received a petition from a civil rights group, Kick Against Corruption, over Ikuforiji ‘s financial impropriety in his official capacity, as Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly.

The group alleged that Ikuforiji had  used his position as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly to collect a monthly running cost of N500 million.

According to the petition,  made available to newsmen, the group alleged that in the last 14 months, Ikuforiji had collected not less than N7 billion which they said, he  laundered abroad through proxies and an Ikeja based automobile company.

Contacted, EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi confirmed that the Speaker was in the agency’s custody.
