OSOGBO-Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, weekend, descended on those who carried the rumour of his alleged terminal ailment few weeks ago saying the rumour mongers would soon go down with the affliction in accordance with the Holy Scriptures.
He also warned Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders to henceforth desist from harassing the people of Osun State stressing that he would continue to travel to places in Nigeria and abroad where he was sure of bringing benefits to the people of the state who gave him their mandate at the poll in 2007.
A national newspaper (not Vanguard) had in one of its editions reported that Ogbeni Aregbesola was suffering from cancer disease.
But reacting to the rumour, the governor said: “I leave those who engineered this wicked and malicious lie in the hand of God but I want them to know that they will also have what they wish for others. It is a divine principle that what you sow, you reap”.
Speaking at a dinner commemorating the 20th anniversary of the creation of Osun State held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, on Saturday night, Aregbesola declared that those who made cancer speculations about him would soon suffer the evil fate they wished for him.
He also justified his foreign travels as a task carried out strictly in public interest, adding that he remained unaffected by the uninformed critics who were themselves responsible for the economic woes of the state that he has been trying hard to heal.
His words: “I cannot be deterred by idle elements that ran the state aground, piled up debts, left empty treasury and put our people under siege before they were kicked out by honourable and courageous judges of the court of appeal. I will not hesitate to visit places where I am sure will bring benefit to the government and people of Osun State ”.
