The two officers, an Inspector of Customs and Customs Assistant (names withheld) it was gathered, conspired with one Komo to form a recruitment racket into the service.

Mr. Joseph Atta, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Customs, in a statement, said that before their arrest, the suspects had collected over of N3.2 million from about 11 persons who had signified interest in joining the Service.

Atta said the suspects issued fake letters of appointment which were later detected by the documentation officers in Garki.
