By Jimoh Babatunde
LAGOS — Tension is mounting at the National Agency   for Science Engineering and Infrastructure, NASENI,  over the third term scheming of the Director General, Prof Olusegun Adewoye.

A source at the agency disclosed that the first tenure of the Director General had not ended before his second term was hurriedly sealed in April 2007because of the fear that he would be 60 years before then.

The source said: “He was appointed for the first tenure on July 22, 2003. His first tenure of four years ought to have ended by April, 2007 in which case, he would not be eligible for second tenure. His second tenure was sealed even when his first tenure had not elapsed.”

He added that Adewoye’s mandatory double tenure of eight years, however, expired July 22, 2011, “yet, he is still glued to the office.”
The source noted that another Director General in the Federal Institute of Research, Oshodi, same Ministry of Science and Technology, who served eight years of two tenure, had retired and vacated office for fresh hand.

“Investigation carried out by the Accounts Department of NASENI reveals that he is the only DG, whose file is not in the office of the Secretary of the Federation,” the source added.
