Katsina-Alu vs Salami: Protesters storm NASS, call for fair hearing


ABUJA – A pocketful of protesters yesterday stormed the National Assembly Complex protesting that the embattled President of the Appeal Court Justice Ayo Salami should be given a fair hearing as the Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu cannot be a judge over his own matter.

About 20 protesters consisting mainly of youths stood guard with police men at the second entry point of the National Assembly displaying placards bearing such words as “Katsina –Alu cannot preside over his own matter.”

Another placard read “Auta panel is biased”, “save Nigeria from corruption while others had on unprintable graffiti inscribed.

The protesters who stormed the complex at about remained on guard till about 2.30pm as at the time of filing this report as they refused to utter a word to the press for fear of being misquoted.

It would be recalled that President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Salami had written a letter to the National Judicial Council, NJC on Tuesday to formally notify the Council of the lawsuit he filed last week seeking to quash the recommendations of the two panels set up by the Council.
