Despite the legal tussle which has denied the Nigeria Premier League a title sponsorship as well as a clear leader, coach of Gateway FC of Abeokuta, Toyin Ayinla has expressed satisfaction with the administration of the league which is in the 35th week.
In a chat with Inside Out Premier league from his base in Abeokuta, the former Kwara United coach said the mandated upgrading of clubs’ stadia and pitches and fair officiating have made the league grow by way of away victories being recorded.
“I have to be factual, this years’ league has seen a lot of improvement as compared to the previous one. I can attest to it by saying that, it has recorded a lot of away victories in which there were no fracas. The idea of win at all cost syndrome has reduced and I am sure that since they (NPL) have been able to improve the league to this level this season, there will be more next season.

“It is a thing of joy that a lot of stadia in the country now have astro turfs pitches which have tremendously improved the game itself.
Television coverage has become good and players themselves are enjoying their game.
“Not forgetting the match officials themselves, they have done a commendable job which I can say was helped by the level of security available. In line with this, there have been reasonable levels of reduction in hooliganism at match venues. I hope we will continue this way in other for the sky to be the beginning of our success,” Ayinla said.
