New wage: Ondo workers may suspend strike today

Akure – INDICATIONS emerged yesterday that public servants in Ondo State could call off their ongoing strike over implemention of the N18.000 following intervention of stakeholders who met with their leaders for over five hours.

The Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, Mr. Solomon Adelegan, denied that the union was sponsored to go on strike by the opposition party in the state.

The stakeholders including religious leaders, traditional rulers, market women and others who met with the labour leaders, were said to have pleaded with them to call off the action which entered the fourth day today.

Among the stakeholders that pleaded with the workers included the Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Bishop Ipinmoye, retired Bishop of the diocese, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, the Deji of Akureland, Oba Adebiyi Adesida who attended the meeting.
