Inmates of Okere Prisons, Warri in Delta State blew up the prisons walls yesterday with dynamites in an audacious attempt to escape but the jail break was foiled by the police and other security agents.
As at yesterday night, the prison had been cordoned off by both the police and army with armoured tanks.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Hamman Tsafa, confirmed the incident, saying two warders were injured. The commissioner disclosed that the police took charge of the situation and everything was calm as at 8 p.m. It was learnt that debris of the dynamites were recovered by the police.
