How Lagos monarchs aid governance – Oba of Ikorodu


The Oba of Ikorodu, Alaiyeluwa Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Adekoya Oyefusi  says the expansion of the 20 local government areas in Lagos to 57  local council development areas, LCDAs, has made the government closer to the people and enabled the  traditional rulers  to be more effective.

He made this disclosure at the the celebration of his 80th birthday and 40 years on the throne at The Royal Castle of Mercy, Ikorodu, Lagos.

He noted that the traditional rulers have complemented the works of the local government chairmen in the 57 local governments in Lagos.

He  said that Governor Babatunde Fashola and his predesseor Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu have given the maximum support to him and other traditional rulers in Lagos. According to him: “This stool I am occupying now and would still occupy for so many years to come has brought so much joy, happiness , mercy, affluence and challenge to me. Imagine a situation where visitors to your Palace is much more educated and grounded  than you, where do you think the wisdom will come from to deal or attend to such people, if not God”
