Former Nigerian International, Etim Esin has urged the U-20 team to work hard for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup holding in Columbia later this year .
Penultimate Wednesday, the Under-20 team in Faro, Portugal began intensive training and preparation for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup .
According to Etim, “this is the time the team need to work hard for the competition in order to do well in the competition.
“We are the most favoured African country in this competition. This is the more reason we need to do well . The
Defending champions, Ghana are not in the competition, definitely all eyes will be on Nigeria.
“We should try and make sure we get to the final of the competition. I’m positive that the team will do well in the competition. It’s going to be tough for us especially in our group, but I believe some thing good will come at the end.”
Continuing, he said, “the most important thing in any tournament is to win your first match or have a draw. If we can get a draw and win our first match we will could go far. They must not lose the first match. It is always difficult to recover if you do,” he said.
Nigeria is grouped alongside Croatia, Saudu Arabia and Guatemala in Group D.
