OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola yesterday confirmed Vanguard’s story by  presenting the  list of 14 commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for approval.

The Governor in a letter to the house also sought for its approval for the appointment of Special Advisers.
The list of the commissioner nominees was made up of the first speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Wale Afolabi, the Director of Research and Strategy of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state, Mr. Sunday Akere and son of the late Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Muyiwa Ige.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon Akintunde Adegboye who presided over the plenary yesterday said there will be no “bow and go” in the screening of the commissioner nominees..

The Speaker of the House who was on an official tour to the United Kingdom in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Goke Butika commended the governor for sending a list of proposed slim cabinet, saying the assembly would check the backgrounds of all nominees with a view to giving Osun State the best team.

It would be recalled that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state had mounted pressure on the Governor to appoint Commissioners since he assumed office in November last year.

Governor Aregbesola was sworn in on November 26, 2010 following a judgment of an Appeal court sitting in Ibadan which nullified the election of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and declared Aregbesola as the authentic winner of the April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election.
