*Says Oyo can pay N18,000 wage
Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has been accused of being economic with the truth. Former Governor Akala in a statement by his spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade, weekend insisted that the State is capable of paying N18,000 minimum wage without breaking the bank.
He contended that apart from the N6.5 billion collected from the Federation Account for the month of June, ample fiscal indices suggests that with the political will and prudent husbanding, resources available can be spread to accommodate government blueprint 41 days after assuming power.
The statement condemned the excuse that the Governor and his aides have also not received salaries to justify why former Governor Akala and his aides have been denied their May salaries, saying that though they may not have collected their salaries but bulky allowances are being received.
Former Governor Akala also referred to the unequivocal statement credited to the Chairman of Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission RMAFC, Alh. Hamman Tukur who told the Nation that the governors can conveniently pay the new minimum wage and rebuked them for asking for the removal of oil subsidy.
