IBADAN— Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has pledged to make Oyo “a state of best option” after Lagos in the South West and Nigeria, even as he reiterated his determination to alleviate the suffering of the masses through the provision of affordable, decent and cost-effective houses.
Receiving management of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, FMBN, during a visit, the governor, expressed readiness to partner with the bank in its efforts to make life meaningful for the people of the state through mass provision of affordable houses.
Ajimobi said that apart from the N18,000 minimum wage demanded by workers, the present administration “believes in the developmental approach to the welfare of workers which takes care of the basic requirements of human beings. I have always believed in the holistic approach to welfare package.
Thus, employees’ welfare package must include affordable housing, transportation”. Our approach to employee packages is what I call developmental approach which takes care of the basic requirements of modern human beings. We want to help our workers to live a better life.
For me, the objective of our administration is to say that we have come; we have seen Oyo State; we have transformed it; we have reformed it; we have repositioned it, so that Oyo will come back to its Pacesetter state role” the governor said.
While commending the partnership proposal put forward by the bank, Governor Ajimobi said the proposal came at the right time when his administration was set to put smiles on the faces of its workers through improved welfare package.
The governor also announced the setting up of a committee that will work with the bank in actualizing the provision of affordable houses to the people of the State.
