*Not my jurisdiction, says Magistrate

ABAKALIKI—THE Police have arrested and arraigned before an Abakaliki Magistrate Court the prime suspect, Mrs. Ijeoma Ogbonna, allegedly behind the gruesome murder of her pregnant mate, Mrs Chinyere Ogbonna, and her three children on June 12.
The suspect had allegedly set ablaze the house in which her mate and children were sleeping at Echara-Unuhu Nkaliki Community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, killing all of them in the process.
The 32-year-old woman was arraigned on a four-count charge for murder.
The victim, Mrs. Chinyere Ogbonna, was the second wife of her husband, Mr. Ogbonna.
The court also charged the suspect for unlawfully killing one Chinagorom Ogbonna, Ogobuchi Ogbonna and Nkwagu Ogbonna, all children of late Mrs. Chinyere Ogbonna, who equally died in the fire.
When the matter came up for a plea, the trial Magistrate, Mr. Job Orude, who noted that the offence committed by the suspect was punishable under Section 319 Sub-section (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 33, laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009, added that the court had no jurisdiction over the matter.
Mr. Orude ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prisons in Abakaliki, while the case file and all inventories relating to the case be transferred to the Attorney-General of the state and Directorof Public Prosecution.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ogbonna’s home had been deserted, while mobile policemen in armoured personnel carrier were seen at Echara-Unuhu Nkaliki community to forestall a breakdown of law and order.
