Student body vows to end illegal diesel ferrying

Irele (Ondo) – The National Association of Irele Local Government Students (NAILGOS) has vowed to put an end to illegal ferrying of diesel in Irele Local Government Area.

Speaking with newsmen, the NAILGOS President, Mr Segun Omoyofunmi, said that the students were reacting due to the mayhem caused by the haulage of the product.

“We had to impound three of their cars last week; they usually spill the diesel on the roads which makes it slippery.

“It has resulted in the death of our kinsmen and loss of properties.

“Last year, two buildings were razed when one of the two trucks carrying diesel ran into them due to the slippery road, after the first one had spilled diesel while passing”.

When contacted, the Irele Local Government Chairman, Mr Shadrack Olowojuni, declined comments.

“I have directed the issue to Security and Intelligence Committee of the Local Government. I am not expected to make any comments on it”.

All efforts to speak with the Irele Divisional Police Officer (DPO) proved abortive, as he was said to be on official assignment. (NAN)
