Lagos – A total of 474.14 million shares valued at N2.18 billion were traded in 5,219 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday.
This was against the 244.45 million shares worth N1.52 billion traded in 5,453 deals on Thursday.
The market indices appreciated by 0.34 per cent.
The All-Share Index gained 86.34 points to close at 25,271.61 from the opening index of 25,185.27.
The market capitalisation also gained N28 billion to close at N8.080 trillion against the N8.052 trillion recorded on Thursday.
The Banking sub-sector led other sub-sectors, trading 119.81 million shares valued at N924.86 million in 2,991 deals.
Shares in the Banking sub-sector accounted for 49.01 per cent of the turnover on NSE on Friday.
The Insurance sub-sector followed with investors staking N38.58 million on 73.78 million shares in 876 deals.
Robust trading in the shares of Mutual Benefits Assurance drove the sub-sector with 54.21 million of the shares worth N27.01 million traded in 64 deals.
The Agriculture/Agro-Allied sub-sector came third, trading 20.63 million shares worth N26.28 million in 50 deals.
PZ Cussons topped the price gainers’ pack with a gain of N1.80 to close at N38.50 per share.
Dangote Flour appreciated by 50k to close at N16.88 per share while Cadbury grew by 49k to close at N18 per share.
Mobil led the price losers’ table with a loss of five naira to close at N154 per share.
Northern Nigerian Flour Mill (NNFM) lost N1.46 to close at N27.74 per share while SCOA shed by 37k to close at N7.11 per share. (NAN)
