ABUJA- As part of moves to increase the potential growth of the country, the world disclosed yesterday that plans have been concluded to inject $ 4.185 million in the Nigeria Fadama project.
Disclosing this yesterday when he paid a visit to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Dr. Biodun Nathaniel Olorunfemi, the Task Team Leader, Nigeria FADAMA III, Dr. Abimbola Adubi stated that they were in the zone to monitor and see how projects have fared under FADAMA III.
Dr. Adubi revealed that they were also here to assess the standard of work done and interact with the beneficiaries as the World Bank plans to increase grant to Nigeria
THE Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA revealed yesterday that Abuja has a farming family population of 93,092, just as it vowed to encourage and support the farmers.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja when he received members of the 4thJoint World Bank/FGN Supervision Mission of FADAMA III in North Central Zone, the permanent Secretary, FCTA, Dr. Biodun Nathaniel Olorunfemi stressed that the FCT Administration would provide special support for the sustainability of FADAMA I and II in the Agricultural and Rural Development statutory budget line.
Represented by the Director of Economic Planning, Research & Statistics, Isa Ari Mohammed, the Permanent Secretary who noted that the Administration has fully met its financial obligation through the payment of counterpart fund as at when due since the inception of the project to date, stressed that the FCT-FADAMA Coordination office enjoys full autonomy as enshrined in the project documents and the legal instruments for effective implementation and coordination.
According to him, these have translated into positive impact on the growth and development of our economy, especially in the Agriculture, Education and Health sectors.
He said that the FCT FADAMA Coordination office which was constituted in April 2009 to oversee the implementation of the FADAMA III Project in the FCT, enjoys the support of the FCT Administration which has enabled it to perform and deliver on its mandate of delivering the dividends of FADAMA III grants and resources to alleviate poverty, generate employment and empower the rural agrarian populace of the FCT.
