Super Eagles winger John Chukwudi Utaka is yet to come to terms with his being left out of the national team since after 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he was an unused substitute, but said he is always ready to play for his fatherland if called upon.
Speaking with a cross section of Journalists at the Nwankwo Kanu Testimonial held last Saturday at the Teslim Stadium Lagos, Utaka said: “Honestly I do not know why I have not been called to play in the national team. It is best known to people in charge of invitation. But for now, I’m just concentrating on playing for my club.
Anytime Nigeria calls me to play for my fatherland I will answer. I’ll always honour Nigeria anytime, nobody will question my loyalty when it comes to people that play for the country. I am available whenever they call me. For now,
I think I am enjoying my game, that is the most important thing, every other thing comes after.”
