Community leader petitions AIG alleging threat to life

BENIN—THE Chairman of Tisun Management Council of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Daniel Odonghanro, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 Benin City, over alleged assault and attempt to kidnap and kill him by some members of the community.

Odonghanro in the petition, fingered two persons as being behind the plot,  adding that he was being targeted to pave way for a certain individual to “fraudulently take over  the chair of the Management Council of Tisun community, an office he has been scheming to take over,  which was why the elders council took him to court.”

In the petition by his counsel, Mr Emmanuel Omouvwu,  Odonghanro recalled that he was attacked on June 6, 2011 at the office of the Regional Development Committee, by armed political thugs, where he was beaten and abducted but was later rescued by a mobile policeman, who fired sporadically to rescue him.

While urged the AIG to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book, he said that he can identify the thugs, who were brought by the said individual to assault and attempt to kidnap him.

He said that the thugs are boys from his community. “I appeal to the AIG to investigate this brigandage,  which is wicked and meant to cause further crisis in our peaceful community due to greed of a few people,” he added.
