The Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Abubakar Ringim, Wednesday, disclosed that he has ordered a high powered investigation into the alleged clash in Badagry, Lagos state, allegedly between personnel of the Police and the army saying that all those involved in the act of killing the senior police officers will be identified, arrested and prosecuted.
A statement signed by Force Public Relations officer, DCP Olusola Amore noted that the IG while appealing for calm, enjoined officers and men of both sides to exercise restraint and stop any further attack, as such situation will undermine the existing cordial relationship between the two sister services.
The statement said, “The attention of Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz A. Ringim has been drawn to the unfortunate killing of two Police officers and attacks on other Police officers serving in Badagry, Lagos State by men suspected to be soldiers from 242 Recce Battalion of the Nigerian Army.
“The incident occurred on 24th May, 2011 when the two Senior Police Officers paid a peace mission to the Commanding Officer 242 Recce Battalion in Badagry as a result of the alleged unfortunate killing of a soldier by Policemen attached to RRS on 22nd May, 2011. The two officers were ambushed and killed when leaving the barracks.”
