*As appointment seeking politicians storm Obudu

Lagos – FORMER Lagos State Governor and chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, may get two ministerial slots for delivering the South-West during the presidential poll.

According to inside presidency sources, high priority will be accorded those who were able to deliver their constituencies during the Presidential poll of April 16.

“For example, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may get two ministerial slots for delivering the South-West during the poll,” the source told Vanguard.

Meanwhile, politicians, who at the weekend got a wind that President Goodluck Jonathan will spend a good part of his working visit to Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State to tinker with the structure of government especially restructuring of the Federal cabinet are said to be roving around the resort and Calabar the state capital in their bid to lobby for appointments either for themselves or their cronies.

President Jonathan arrived at the Obudu Cattle Ranch on Saturday, where he is expected to spend seven days on a working retreat.

While details of the trip were sketchy, an aide of the President said the retreat would help him unwind and at the same time reflect on the formation of the next government after his swearing-in on May 29.

A statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ima Niboro, said the president would be accompanied by some senior government officials and his aides.

Meantime, the agreement to oblige Tinubu ministerial slots was reached during his meeting with the president before the presidential poll.

Jonathan and his main challenger, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, were said to have intensified their efforts to ensure victory at the April 16 presidential election by courting Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, strongman, Bola Tinubu. ACN’s strong showing in the parliamentary polls means the party would play a crucial role in deciding who wins the presidential election.

Jonathan met with Tinubu in Lagos where he allegedly offered the ACN strongman the cabinet posts in return for South-West’s votes.

Tinubu was said to have accepted the offer which translated into millions of votes for Jonathan, particularly in Lagos and some other South-West strongholds and guaranteed him the presidency.
