Lagos – The Nigeria Rowing, Canoe and Sailing Federation has scheduled the 17th Annual retired Rear Admiral Festus Porbeni Regatta for May 28 at Bics Resort, Lekki, Lagos.
The secretary-general, NRCSF, Victor Anusa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that the regatta was an open invitational championship for clubs across the country.
Anusa said that the event would also be used to commemorate the 65th birthday of Porbeni, who is the president of the federation.
The secretary-general said that the championships would also serve the purpose of identifying talents who would be registered with the NRCSF.
He said that the turnout this year was expected to be better “as the organisers have developed more engaging side attractions”.
Among dignitaries expected at the event are the out-going Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, and the Director- General, National Sports Commission, Dr Patrick Ekeji. (NAN)
