INEC parades 4 for impersonation, fraud

Calabar – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has paraded four persons for alleged impersonation and fraud during the payment of the commission’s ad hoc staff, who participated in the just concluded general elections in Cross River State.

The suspects were arrested while allegedly trying to impersonate some of the absentee-ad hoc staff during payment.

Parading the suspects at the INEC office in Calabar, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini, said one of the suspects,  Stephen Otu, who works with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, allegedly claimed to be a graduate, which was latter discovered to be false, but was allegedly recruited by one Mr. Essien Eyibio, who is also said to be a staff of the hospital.

Igini alleged that the suspect, Otu, had made trouble at the office and also threw bottles at the commission’s Administrative Secretary, Mr. Chris Okereke.
