LAGOS — Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, stalwart and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has tasked the newly elected members into the state House of Assembly not to let their constituents down.
Tinubu said this when the newly elected lawmakers and some old members, led by Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji, paid him a courtesy visit at his Bourdillon House, Ikoyi. He also urged them not to tarnish the name of ACN under which they contested.
While congratulating them on their victory at the poll, he said, “we have to congratulate each other. It is a very great opportunity to be chosen to represent your people. Though you have won the election, you still have many challenges ahead of you.
“You can’t afford not to properly represent the interest of those that elected you, else they will reject you the next time you go to them and by doing so you would have disappointed our party. We must not run a divided government.”
but a peaceful stable government for the service of our people.
“We are lucky to be accepted by the people and therefore, we are determined to make a difference in the country and you all must be part of it. You must be focused and your aim should not be for your immediate constituents. You must work very hard. You must live up to the expectation of the public.
“No room for bickering because the job is too critical for rapid transformation of the state and as we have made our decision known as a party that we are not participating in the Government of National Unity, we are still standing on that decision,” he added.
While commending those members who are not returning to the House for not betraying the party, Tinubu promised them that the party will be in contact with them.
