Asaba-FOUR former militants and one Army Corporal, were, yesterday, arrested by police anti-patrol team along Warri/Sapele Road with firearms.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the incident, said that the former militant claimed that they were returning the arms in their possession to the Joint Task Froce, JTF in Bayelsa, when they were caught.

According to him, “this is a case of unlawful possession of firearms. Today (yesterday)at about 0920 hours, anti-crime patrol along Warri/Sapele Road arrested four boys and one Army Corporal (all names withheld),  the driver of one Volvo car registration number AC 429 Abu with 35 locally made single barrel guns. When interrogated, they (suspects) claimed that they were former militants going to handover their arms at JTF headquarters Bayelsa State.”

He added that the command had commenced full scale investigation in the incident.
