3 kidnapped as Umuebu, Amai resume hostilities in Delta

WARRI – POLICEMEN were deployed at the weekend to Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State following renewed hostilities between war-torn Umuebu and Amai communities.
The reinforcement was to beef up security and contain spread of violence following the alleged kidnap of three persons at the weekend.
Arsonists reportedly set ablaze a petrol station at Obiaruku belonging to a wealthy Amai indigene said to have organized the kidnap of the boys.
Delta State police spokesman, Mr.Charles Muka confirmed to Vanguard, weekend,  that the police got a report that a petrol station was razed over the purported kidnap of some persons, saying the matter was under investigation.
The long-standing dispute between Umuebu and Amai has defied solution over the years despite the intervention of the state government. The last general election did not hold in the two communities due to the crisis.
Several persons had lost their lives and property worth millions destroyed in the age-long feud between the two communities.
