Umuahia — ABIA State government has assured Hausa community in the state of adequate protection.
It also dispelled rumours of reprisal attack on Northern people in the state.
The state government, through a statement by Ugochukwu Emezue, Governor Orji’s aide on Electronic Media, noted that the crisis in the North affected Abians and other easterners but stressed that it would not in anyway trigger reprisal attacks on northerners in the state, as Governor Orji had taken proactive measure to ensure that their safety was guaranteed.
According to Emezue, Governor Orji holds the Hausa community in high esteem and will do everything possible to ensure a harmonious relationship between non- indigenes and indigenes in the state.
“This rumour of reprisal attack is intended to instil fears into Abia residents, especially the Hausa community, so as to scare them away from next Tuesday’s polls. Such plot has failed woefully,” Emezue said.
