N2.5bn federal agencies’ debts worries PHCN

Ilorin- AUTHORITIES of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, Baboko Business Unit, Ilorin, Kwara State,  have decried huge debt profile of N2.5billion owed by the federal agencies, state and private sectors in the area as at march ending.

At a quarterly meeting of the Customers Consultative Council, CCC,  in Ilorin, PHCN lamented the failed spirited efforts made to recover the debts and urged the debtors to pay up in order not to kill the activities of PHNC in the area.

The Business Manager of the unit, Engineer Shina Ayandokun,  expressed sadness over how PHCN was forced to reconnect Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which refused to pay its bill on the eve of election.

He lamented that instead,  PHCN was accused of sabotage, saying same with Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC,  in the state capital.

He said that, “the breakdown of the debts shows that from the federal government agencies , police owes N1,976,712.30, custom N284,368.50 , prison N244,170.28, Army N336,237,628.72, and Air force N82,794,152.65.
Ayandokun said that, “the state government owes N18,300,997.19 while local government debt is N1,873,435.36.”

The Manager  who was represented at the forum by Technical Engineer of the unit, Engineer Bshr Osho,  however told the forum that the PHCN had embarked on mass disconnection of its debtors after the option of appeal has failed.
