With high regards for effective Corporate Social Responsibility and in support of the tenets and goals of the World Health Organisation, International Business Machine (IBM) has announced its partnership support in helping Cross River State combat the menace of infant and maternal mortality.
According to Mr. Taiwo Otiti, Country General Manager, IBM West Africa, IBM is supporting the Cross Rivers State government with the provision of consultant specialists on project management skills and global expertise in the application of modern technologies to create smarter healthcare systems.
“The issue of maternity and infant mortality is described by the WHO as Africa’s silent epidemic. The tragedy that millions of mothers, children and unborn babies from preventable and treatable causes are alarming, ” he stated.
On the “Project Hope” and “Project Comfort initiatives of his administration, Imoke said: “We launched Project Hope for the purpose of providing free healthcare for pregnant women and children under five years while the project Comfort is a social benefit scheme designed to provide financial assistance to people living in poverty and support in educating family members.”
