ABAKALIKI—THE Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone C, Calabar, AIG Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday charged officers and men of the Nigeria Police not to give room to the monetary inducement from some desperate politicians who are in the habit of denigrating the image of the police for their own selfish interest.
He stressed that all allowances of policemen engaged in this year’s elections would be paid promptly without delay, adding that any officer who engaged in pilfering the allowances of his colleagues would be punished without hesitation.
AIG Abubakar gave the charge in Abakaliki while accessing the readiness of Ebonyi State Police Command for April 26, governorship election listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

“Do not give room for politicians to accuse you. Be alert, observant and protective by ensuring that everybody is protected during the election. There is partnership between you, the police and several other security agencies. All security agencies in the country are working towards free, fair and credible elections.
“Go out there and do what is expected of you; after April 26, we’ll celebrate to a violent-free election,” he added.
In his own remarks, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Adeola Adeniji assured the electorate of police protection as they come out to vote candidates of their choice adding that the Command was prepared to tackle any security challenge that might crop in the governorship election.
