FORMER Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, Thursday, stressed the need for Nigeria to be admitted as Permanent Member in the United Nations’ Security Council.
He also urged Nigerians and Edo State indigenes in particular to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan to enable him achieve this.
This came as the former Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, and chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Mallam Gani Audu, explained that they were mobilising for President Jonathan in the state “because we want him to fix the erosion problem devastating Auchi and the Benin-Lagos Road.
“We believe he will handle it the way he handled the amnesty programme, the fuel issue and that is why we are backing him in Edo State.”
However, Admiral Akhigbe, who urged Nigerians to vote for Jonathan, while addressing leaders of different political parties at his Fugar country home, Thursday, said “our people owe him a debt of gratitude for allowing them cast their votes, while the votes also counted. In the past, most of our people were not allowed to cast their votes but he made it possible this time around.”
