Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, said the reason the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, attacks the opposition in the states they control was because they do not have anything to offer the people again.
Fashola spoke against the background of alleged attack on the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and the denial of campaign venues to the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, in Niger, Adamawa and Oyo States by the PDP.
The Lagos State governor in a chat with Airport Correspondents at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, yesterday, said, “They (PDP) don’t want an exchange of ideas. They have nothing to show people and therefore, they are resorting to violence and frustrating the opposition.”
Governor Fashola said “this tyranny of power must come to an end. They have lost touch with the people, they have lost the common touch, and they are insensitive.”
He said the happenings in some parts of the federation had shown clearly the intolerance of the PDP because they control currently most of the states in the country.
Fashola said ACN has allowed PDP candidates and any candidate who has something to offer in the states ACN control to come and contest “in this exchange of ideas, this is what Nigerians want to hear”.
He added “Nigerians are more intelligent now, there are lots of ways to communicate and share ideas and you will see as we go on clearly what the results of this election will show, a very strong rejection of PDP across board, this is the time they will get the red card.”
